Easy Trace is a simplified means of tracing lines. While tracing it looks for contrasts to the background color and selects the contrasting point closest to the center of the cursor. This allows tracing without having to keep the cursor directly over the line being traced. Easy Trace is available for regions, contour lines and length measurements. When Easy Trace is active, the takeoff cursor is a circle with a cross in the center.

Easy Trace can be enabled and disabled using the Raster/PDF Menu or Toolbar.

Easy Trace requires that the background color be defined. If it is not and Easy Trace is enabled the following message will appear.

Pressing cancel will abort the current takeoff, allowing the background color to be defined. Pressing OK will continue the takeoff with Easy Trace disabled.
One side effect of the Easy Trace algorithm is that it may get confused when line cross on the drawing. The way around this problem is to stop tracing on one side of the crossing and resume tracing on the other.
