Append Mode

Very often CAD programs export dashed lines to a PDF file as a series of lines, as shown above. Append Mode is a mechanism to connect the series of lines into a single takeoff object, in the case of this example, a contour line.

Select Entity and Append Mode must all be enabled.

Start the takeoff and select one end line and click on it. The line will be entered as a contour line.

Select the next line in the series and click on it. It will be appended to the first line.

Continue selecting the lines, in order and clicking until the last line is reached.

After the last line is the series is appended, right click the mouse and select New Object, Increase Elevation, Decrease Elevation to move to the next line series. Press Stop Takeoff if this was the last series.

Note: Pressing Stop Takeoff will reset Append Mode. It can be re-enabled by selecting it on the Vector PDF Toolbar or the Vector PDF Menu.
