Select Area Elevation from the takeoff combo, the takeoff popup menu or the takeoff menu to view or digitize the existing and proposed area elevations.
Areas are entered as one of four types:
- Surface - contain elevations. The perimeter of the area is treated as a design line in developing the surface model. The area is superimposed on the model after it is created.
- Basement - contain elevations. The area is superimposed on the model after it is created. The elevations associated with the area are not used in creating the surface model. Contour lines should be extended through the area to insure proper generation of the surface model.
- Sub grade Only - areas without elevations. Sloping Parking lots without curbs are examples of Sub grade Only areas.
- Other - area calculated only, does not affect the cut and fill calculations.
The area type is shown on the properties tab on the right hand side of the window.
When calculating dirt volumes, elevations within a Surface, Basement or Sub grade Only area will be reduced by the depths entered at the Layers tab.
After digitizing, the Area type may be changed at any time.
