Grid Size
The Grid Size determines how the information is presented at the Grid Data Tab. The grid is displayed at the Takeoff Tab, when Takeoff Grid is turned on under the View menu. Grid Size should be selected according to stake spacing requirements. Otherwise select a Grid Size resulting in 50 to 100 squares for the project.
Resolution
The Resolution affects the size of the each square on the 3D View and the calculation resolution. Each grid is subdivided into squares:
|
| ||
|
Low | 100 squares | (10X10) |
|
Medium | 625 squares | (25X25) |
|
High | 2500 squares | (50X50) |
|
Very High | 10000 squares | (100X100) |
These squares are displayed at the 3D tab.
For speed and ease of use, first calculate using the Low or Medium Resolution setting. After calculating, review the results and look at the 3D view to verify the takeoff. If the 3D view and numbers look reasonable, recalculate using High or Very High resolution for final results. The higher the resolution, the more calculations performed in SiteWorx/OS and consequently the longer it takes.
The Grid Size and Resolution interact to have an effect on the accuracy of the calculated volumes. Increasing Resolution decreases the size of each square calculated. With a 50' grid, Low Resolution calculates on 5' X 5' squares. High Resolution calculates on 1' X 1' squares. With a 20' grid, Low Resolution calculates on 2' X 2' squares. High Resolution calculates on 0.4' X 0.4' squares. The calculation resolution is displayed on the Calculations Tab.
