To scale a CAD drawing, it is necessary to determine the size of a drawing unit. Typically, a drawing unit is feet or meters.
First, select the units for the drawing - English or Metric. If English, next select architectural or engineering.
There are three methods to size the drawing unit:
- Select a unit from the drop down list box

- Calculate the unit size from a dimension on the drawing

- digitize the beginning and ending points of a line with a known distance,
- enter the distance between the points
- Manually enter the factor (not recommended)

- Select whether or not to display takeoff in feet. This only applies when English units are selected and the unit size is not feet.
IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to change scale when using multiple drawings. The Alignment process takes care of any scale differences between drawings. Changing scale may give unexpected results.
