Measurements are make (taken off) in the takeoff window. Points are selected and lines are drawn with left clicks of the mouse in the Drawing View. The results of the measurement are displayed on the measurement toolbar. (Classic or Version 5)

For counts only the count field contains any information.

For section lengths, the count field displays the number of points entered and the length field displays the cumulative length of all sections measured. If the count field is even, BidScreen XL is ready to measure a new section. If it odd, the first point of the section has been taken off and a rubber band (thin line) will display between that point and the cursor as it is moved.

For continuous lengths, the count field displays the number of points entered and the length field displays the cumulative length of all lines measured. After the first point of the line has been taken off a rubber band (thin line) will display between the last point taken off and the cursor as it is moved. To complete a line an move to the next, select Close Area/End Line from the Edit menu or the Takeoff Popup Menu.

For areas, the count field displays the number of points entered and the length field displays the cumulative length the perimeters of all areas measured. After the first point of the area has been taken off a rubber band (thin line) will display between the last point taken off and the cursor as it is moved. After the second point is taken off, a second rubber band will display from the cursor to the first point taken off. To complete a line an move to the next, select Close Area/End Line from the Edit menu or the Takeoff Popup Menu. This command adds a segment between the last point taken off and the first point taken off, closing the area.

To complete the measurement, press the OK button, ok or select Stop Takeoff from the Edit menu or the Takeoff Popup Menu.

To discard all changes to the measurement, press the Cancel button, cancel press Exit on the File Menu or press the X in the upper right corner of the window.
