BidScreen Xl stores the takeoff information in cell comments. There are two types of cell comments, default and takeoff.
There is only one default cell comment per workbook. This comment contains a list of all the drawings used in the workbook and the default information used when starting a new takeoff. This cell comment is created when the first drawing is opened for takeoff. It is typically in cell A1 or A2 of the open worksheet.
Warning: Deleting the default cell comment will render the workbook unusable. Care must be taken when merging workbooks that only one default cell comment exists.
When a workbook is opened, BidScreen XL scans the all the used cells in document looking for the default cell comment. When using templates with a large number of defined cells, this scan make take some time. Performance can be increased by adding a default cell comment to the first page of the workbook. A sample comment is installed in the BidPoint XL program folder in the file empty default cell comment.txt.
If the default cell comment is moved, BidScreen XL will scane the workbook attmepting to find the new location.
