Bid tracking and CRM without the platform contract.

Procore and Pursuit solve different problems that meet at the word bid. Procore is a construction operating system: project management, financials, field tools, and a preconstruction suite where GCs distribute bid packages to subcontractors and level the responses. It is quoted by sales, priced on annual construction volume, and third-party estimates put realistic entry in the five figures per year. Pursuit is the estimator's side of the desk: a CRM that tracks the bids your team is pricing, with documents, vendor RFQs, correspondence, and AI answers, at a published $47 to $79 per user per month with a free account to start.

Why estimators switch

The case for Pursuit

Nobody switches off Procore because Procore is weak. It holds a 4.6 on G2 across four thousand reviews, and for a GC running projects, financials, and field operations on one platform, it earns its place. The estimating teams that pick Pursuit instead are answering a narrower question: what does the bid desk actually need, and what does it cost to get it?

Procore is bought by leadership for the whole company, priced on annual construction volume, on an annual or multi-year contract, with no published pricing and no trial. Third-party estimates put realistic entry in the five figures per year. If what you need is bid tracking, customer history, and document answers for a three-to-ten person estimating team, that is a very large purchase for the slice you will use.

Direction matters too. Procore's preconstruction suite is strongest at distributing bids: a GC building packages, inviting subs, tracking coverage, and leveling responses. Pursuit works the other side of that table: the estimator deciding what to bid, chasing vendor quotes, answering spec questions, following up after bid day, and learning which customers actually award work. Procore's Bid Board covers invitations that arrive through Procore's network; your bid flow also comes from BuildingConnected, PlanHub, plain email, and phone calls, and Pursuit does not care where the invitation came from.

There is also the matter of what AI is for. Procore AI and Copilot are aimed at project execution: RFIs, submittals, schedules. Pursuit's AI is aimed at winning the bid: ask the plans and specs a question and get an answer with the page cited, extract scope and soils data, flag contract risk before you sign.

Honest take

When Procore is actually the right choice

Procore is the right choice in plenty of situations, and pretending otherwise would be silly.

If you are a GC who needs to distribute bid packages to dozens of subs, track coverage, and level responses into subcontracts that flow into project financials, that is exactly what Procore Bid Management does, and Pursuit does not do it at all.

If your company wants one platform for project management, field tools, and financials with unlimited users, Procore's volume-based pricing becomes economical at scale, roughly speaking the more construction you run through it the better the math gets.

And if you are a subcontractor whose GCs are mostly on Procore already, a free Procore collaborator account for receiving those invitations costs nothing and coexists happily with Pursuit; several of our users run both.

Migration guide

Switching from Procore to Pursuit

How to migrate

  1. This is usually an addition, not a migration. Keep any free Procore collaborator accounts; you need them to receive invitations from GCs on Procore.
  2. Create a free Pursuit account and add the bids your team is currently pricing, whatever source they arrived from.
  3. Connect Outlook or Gmail so GC and vendor correspondence logs to the right bid.
  4. Upload plan sets and specs per bid; on the Intelligence plan, verify the document Q&A on questions you know.
  5. Send vendor RFQs from Pursuit and let quotes collect on the bid.
  6. Record outcomes and reasons after each bid day. Within a quarter you will know your hit rate by customer, which is the number that decides where estimating hours go.
  7. If your company later adopts Procore for project management, nothing about Pursuit conflicts; they cover different desks.
Common questions

Frequently asked

  • How much does Procore cost compared to Pursuit?

Procore does not publish pricing. It is quoted by sales as an annual contract sized to your construction volume; third-party estimates in 2026 put small GC entry around $15,000 to $30,000 a year and mid-size firms well above that. Pursuit publishes its prices: $47 or $79 per user per month, so a five person estimating team runs about $2,350 to $3,950 a year on annual billing.

  • Does Procore have a CRM?

Yes. Procore markets CRM and Pipeline Intelligence capabilities delivered through its Preconstruction and Bid Management suite, aimed primarily at commercial GC business development teams. It is part of the platform sale rather than a standalone purchase. Pursuit is a standalone bid-centric CRM an estimating team can buy per user.

  • Is Pursuit a Procore Bid Board replacement for subcontractors?

It overlaps but is broader on the pursuit side. Procore's Bid Board manages invitations that arrive through Procore and its Construction Network. Pursuit tracks all your bids regardless of source, adds customer CRM, vendor RFQs, email logging from Outlook and Gmail, document AI, and win/loss reporting. Many subs keep the free Procore collaborator account for receiving invites and run Pursuit as the system of record.

  • Can Pursuit distribute bid packages to subcontractors like Procore?

No. Bid package distribution, coverage tracking, and leveling are GC-side Procore Bid Management strengths, and Pursuit does not do them. Pursuit sends RFQs to your vendors for pricing, which is the subcontractor-facing slice of that workflow, but it is not a bid invitation platform.

  • Do I need Procore to use Pursuit?

No. Pursuit is independent: browser-based, self serve, and connected to Outlook, Gmail, and BidScreen Cloud takeoff on the same platform. If your GCs send work through Procore, keep the free collaborator account; the two tools do not conflict.
